Iran yearly box office top hits revealed

The list of bestselling movies at the Iranian box office chart from March 21, 2018 (the beginning of Persian New Year), to March 14, 2019 has been revealed.

At the eve of Persian New Year in Iran, a chart that contains bestselling products of Iranian cinema industry during the year that passed has been released. The ranking of the list is based on the total gross which each of the bestselling films succeeded to rake at the ticket window during its screening period.

Some of these products were not only successful at the bestselling chart but also succeeded to attract the attention of cinemagoers outside of Iran. ‘Damascus Time’ and ‘ Elephant King’ are among those successful products which were screened in the cinema theaters of Iran neighboring countries.

Nowruz or the Persian New Year, is celebrated across several central and western Asian countries and the new year is 1398 which starts on March 21, 2019.

According to cinematicket official website, top 10 bestselling Iranian movies from March 21, 2018 to March 14, 2019 are:

1. ‘Millipede’,  directed by Abolhassan Davoudi, (total gross, 380,469,160,000 Rials).

2. ‘Confiscation’, directed by Mehran Ahmadi, (total gross,156,913,450,000 Rials).

3. ‘Lottery’, directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, (total gross,148,011,440,000 Rials).

4. ‘Texas’, directed by Masoud Atyabi, (total gross,144,247,980,000 Rials).

5. ‘Damascus Time’ directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, (total gross,130,526,070,000 Rials).

6. ‘Sheeple’ directed by Houman Seyyedi, (total gross,127,661,880,000 Rials).
